iWeb Quick Tips & Tricks

What iWeb
Can & Can't Do.

iWeb is a great app for making simple to sometimes even intermediate websites but as always there's limitations...

Watch Out If You
Edit Your HTML Files!

You will lose .mac features such as comments and statistics. There are workarounds to this problem that can be found on iWebFAQ.com so don't stress out over it too much.
iWeb Site Of The Month:

Here is where a featured iWeb site will be listed every month. Sites are chosen as featured because of their individuality and creativity as well as for their attempts in making their sites look like they're not created with iWeb. Sites are chosen from the list of iWeb-created sites listed on iWebFAQ.com/iwebsites so make sure your site is listed if you want to be considered a feature on iWebFAQ.com. The site of the month for January 2009 is StopSuctionEntrapment.com

Autoplay

To make your media automatically play when a user visits a page is simple!

When you Publish your site your pages will be named home.html pics.html movies.html etc...

If you are using an iWeb Blog Template your blog pages will be named with a random series of numbers.

Either way the your_page.html file will be accompanied by a folder of the same name.  Inside that page folder you will have a .css file and a .js file.

Depending on what version of iWeb you are using, open the .css file or .js file.

There will be 2 autoplay tags in the file.  Change their value from "false" to "true"

You may also consider applying an iFrame to a page having the framed source the file you want to autoplay.  Make sure to add 16 pixels to compensate for the QT controls if desired :^)
